Our world-class golf course at Pevely Farms, which opened in 1998, was laid out by one of the greatest names in golfing architecture - Arthur Hills, who has created more than 100 courses and renovated dozens more. Among the courses that bear his trademark are Oakmont, famed site of the 1994 U.S. Open; Oakland Hills, site of the 1996 U.S. Open; Bighorn Golf Club, where numerous golfing showdowns have been held; The Golf Club of Georgia, site of the Nationwide senior championship; and the Tournament Players Club at Eagle Trace, site of the PGA Honda Classic.

Hills commits himself on every assignment "to build a course that is natural, that relates very carefully to the land - and to design a course which exceeds expectations in beauty, preservation of natural features, and strategic design." His layout at Pevely Farms reflects a classic style sculpted out of amazing natural terrain. He considers the site he used for the course to be "in the top 10 percentile of land on which to build a golf course in North America." Imagine having the chance to take such a great site and being told to "give it your best shot." As you will see, we did just that. Now it's your turn to do the same.

Our 18-hole layout is one of the longest championship courses in St. Louis and provides a strong challenge from the 7,115-yard Thoroughbred or championship tees (74.6/138). It will test your nerves from the 6,632 yard Clydesdale or back tees (72.0/134); provide an enjoyable test of your golfing skills from the 6,215 yard Mustang or middle tees (68.5/118); and display its versatility from the 5,249 yard Morgan or forward tees (70.7/117).

The front nine is a wide-open, links-style layout that will really test your shotmaking ability. The back takes advantage of the natural, rolling topography of this area of Missouri. Lots of statuesque trees line the fairways, which are meticulously manicured.

After warming up on the first two holes you will be ready for the 3rd, a par-4 which we have nicknamed the Links and which plays only 325 yards from the back tees and 210 yards from the forward tees. The key to playing this hole is accuracy; it is important to execute a well-placed tee shot so you can leave a short iron to a small, elevated well-bunkered green.

A great challenge can be found at No. 5, called the Bullseye, because it can be tricky to hit close to the pin on this par-3, playing at 204 yards from the back and 127 yards from the front. Swirling winds can be the biggest hazard on this tough par-3. If you're not precise off the tee, a bunker can catch a shot that is short right. The left side of the green is also problematic because it is very difficult to get up and down from there.

Another tough par-3 awaits you on the 8th, which measures 219 yards from the back and 128 yards from the forward tees. A small green is your target and you need to make sure you have enough club to clear the three bunkers in front of the green.

If you have time, you may want to linger a bit as you play the beautiful 11th hole, that we call Solitude. This dogleg left par-4 measures 404 yards from the tips and 325 yards from the front tees. You'll need a fairly long tee shot that is carefully placed on the right side of the fairway to get a look at the green. Then your approach shot has to carry a stream that wanders in front and to the right of the green and hungers for golf balls.

Then get ready for No. 12, a long par-5 that plays 574 yards from the back and 465 yards from the front. Try to hit your tee shot a mile down the left side of the fairway; then you will still have about 180 to 200 yards to where the fairway turns right and you can get a glimpse of the green. Be careful of the stream on the right side of the fairway that will also cross the fairway closer to the green. Hit your approach to the correct plateau on this two-tiered green.

Our No. 16 presents a different challenge because a long tee shot is required to get to a good location on the fairway for your approach shot to this green. This par-4 plays 439 yards from the back and 323 yards from the front tees and is a dogleg to the right. You have to get the distance on your tee shot because of the length of the dogleg hole and a large tree protects the green from your second shot reaching the green.

We have a grand finale on the 18th that you will remember forever. This toughie lives up to its nickname, the Terminator. This hole requires both distance and accuracy because it is a fairly severe dogleg right that plays 458 yards from the tips and 317 from the front tees. Arthur Hill has designed this finisher to require a long drive right down the middle of the fairway. Avoid the bunkers on the left and right sides of the fairway where the dogleg starts. Then take plenty of club to reach the small green protected by bunkers to the left and right front.
